Mommy Booster Banana Blossom Expands through ASEAN

Banana blossom helps mothers produce baby milk.

Blossoms are bought at fair prices from local farmers to create a win-win situation.

Mommy Blossom has found DITP activities essential for developing its business.

Inheriting a passion for cookery from her family, Varisa Nuanui, founder of Inno Diva, created a recipe that uses banana blossoms as a drink to help her cousin create more milk to feed her baby five years ago.

From that day, Nuanui has established a family business with support from husband Thierry Barraud, and brother Pawin Nuanui to create products under the Mommy Booster brand. These boost a mother’s health both before and after having a baby.

Lacking knowledge on how to do business online and to use social media to reach her target audience, Nuanui attended many government activities aimed at helping SMEs and start-ups.

“Regular participation at activities arranged by government agencies was key to success for me as it took low investment,” she explains. “As small enterprises, the government supports us to find partners and gain knowledge that is useful for running a business. I joined activities arranged by the Office of SME Promotion, DITP, so I could do business online and find customers from those activities. I found a business partner in Cambodia after joining THAIFEX.”

Mommy Booster drinks are sold through leading chemists, hospitals, convenience stores and health shops nationwide. They are also exported to Laos and Cambodia, and negotiations are ongoing to take Mommy Booster to Vietnam following a business matching activity by the DITP.

According to Nuanui, banana blossom is rich in antioxidants and a source of calcium, protein, iron, phosphorus and vitamins A/B1/B2/E. Research indicates that banana blossom contains saponin and tannin that increase the amount of milk a mother produces.

Mommy Booster uses fresh banana blossoms from organic farms in Nakhon Pathom province to produce the banana blossom drink. All fresh banana blossoms are bought at fair prices from local farmers to create a win-win situation for both business and farmers.

Nuanui plans to keep developing new products to meet consumer demand and promote sustainable business growth. Current flavours include honey, cranberry and ginger-star anise.
