MoC Facilitates Fruit Exports to China Via Vietnam

The Ministry of Commerce has carried out several measures to help export fruit to China through Vietnam due to congestion at the border caused by COVID-19 surveillance procedures. In some cases, the vehicles took a day to pass through the checkpoint, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, Jurin Laksanawisit, said on May 5.

The measures included requesting China to increase the number of import and export lanes at China’s Youyi Guan border crossing, and to allow Thai exporters to transport fruit through Dongxing border crossing. Also, the Ministry of Commerce has advised Thai fruit exporters on the rules, regulations and documentation needed for exporting fruit to China, and speeding up the issuance of COVID-19 protection certificates for packaging and vehicles.

In the first quarter of this year, Thailand exported 8.14 billion baht (US$262 million) of fruit to China through cross border checkpoints.
