Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit made a special appearance on Taopao Live on June 9 to inform Chinese consumers about Thai fruit and other food products. His appearance was part of the 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival on Tmall, Alibaba’s B2C e-commerce platform.
The livestream was part of ongoing efforts between Tmall and the DITP to bring popular Thai food and products to more than 800 million users on Alibaba’s China retail marketplaces. The 15-minute livestreaming attracted more than 16 million views.
Data from Alibaba showed that 350,000 young coconuts and four million mangoesteens from Thailand were sold during the seven days of the 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival on this marketplace.
Moreover, the DITP has a Thai food flagship store on Tmall to showcase a selection of Thai fresh fruit, food and beverages.
