High Demand for Thai Sauces and Seasonings in the Netherlands

Consumers in the Netherlands are demanding more Thai sauces and seasonings to use in home cooking, according to a DITP news release on July 28. There is also a high demand for other Thai food products, with Sriracha flavoured instant noodles and Thai sweet chilli snacks proving particularly popular.

To effectively penetrate this market, the DITP has encouraged Thai producers to focus on the quality and standards of both production process and ingredients, while maintaining an authentic Thai flavour, as well as using eco-friendly packaging which meets European Union regulations.

In 2021, Thailand exported US$56.39 million worth of sauces and seasonings to the Netherlands, a 26.8% increase on the previous year. Thai sauces and seasonings are imported by Asian food importers in the Netherlands. Products are also available at major supermarkets in the country including Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, Aldi and Lidl.
