DITP Holds Activities to Boost Fruit Exports

The DITP plans to conduct marketing activities throughout 2019 to promote Thai fruit and boost their exports into target markets.

The department has joined with leading supermarkets to organise in-store promotions, such as Hong Kong’s Wellcome Supermarket and Taiwan’s Jasons Supermarket, as well as hosting a Thai Fair at AEON department store in Japan.

Moreover, it has promoted fresh fruit, processed fruit and other fruit products at Top Thai Brands Fair and Thailand Week in China, ASEAN countries and South Asian countries.

“In the second quarter, we will hold trade fairs in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, and Kunming in China while in the third quarter, fairs will be held in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Nanning (China),” DITP Director-General, Banjongjitt Angsusingh, said on April 11.

In 2018, Thailand exported around US$2.96 billion of fruit and fruit products, and its value is expected to grow 30 to 40% to more than US$4 billion for the first time this year. The top five export markets are Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Japan and the US.
