DITP Successfully Launched Thai Fruits Golden Month Events in China

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has achieved remarkable success by implementing an innovative strategy to penetrate the Chinese market with high-quality Thai fruit. The pivotal projects of Qingdao Thai Fruits Golden Month 2023 and Guangzhou Thai Fruits Golden Month 2023 played a significant role in this achievement.

During the Qingdao Thai Fruits Golden Month, held in collaboration with the Leader Group from May 1st to 7th, 2023, the DITP effectively promoted Thai fruit, resulting in immediate sales of 2.93 million baht. Durian, mangosteen and longan were particularly in demand, leading to wholesale sales worth 138 million baht. Orders of Thai fruit are expected to reach 190 million baht within a year. The event featured engaging activities such as music performances, fruit-themed games, Thai cuisine demonstrations and endorsements from influential figures, attracting Chinese consumers to purchase Thai fruit at special prices throughout the seven-day event.

Similarly, the Guangzhou Thai Fruits Golden Month, in partnership with Lotus supermarkets, achieved resounding success. This event enticed Chinese visitors to explore, sample and purchase Thai fruits. Through the distribution of fruit samples, exclusive sales and the chance to win a round-trip flight ticket from Guangzhou to Bangkok, the event created a vibrant atmosphere. Online promotions across platforms such as Lotus Go APP, Weibo, Wechat, Xiaohongshu and TikTok significantly boosted online fruit orders, which amounted to 20 million baht, reflecting an impressive 260% growth compared with 2022. The projected sales from this year’s event alone are estimated to reach 80 million baht, with a total sales projection of 500 million baht throughout the year across the CP Group network of supermarkets.

Thai Fruits Golden Months by the DITP have been successfully organised in various Chinese cities, including Qingdao, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanning, Chengdu, Kunming, Xiamen, and Hong Kong. These initiatives highlight Thailand’s agricultural prowess and its ability to captivate Chinese consumers, resulting in the establishment of new trade routes and significant economic growth. This success exemplifies the country’s strategic utilisation of agricultural resources for economic gain.
